The crash occurred at about 12:20 a.m. Tuesday at Bustleton Avenue and St. Vincent Street in Castor Gardens. Bregenzer was driving a 2001 GMC Yukon eastbound on St. Vincent when he disregarded a red light at Bustleton Avenue and collided with a southbound 2009 Honda Accord, said Officer Christine O’Brien, a police department spokeswoman.

The force of the impact pushed the Accord into the path of a northbound Jeep Cherokee, causing another collision.

The two occupants of the Accord were pronounced dead at the scene. They were the driver, Liang Pan, 35, of the 2100 block of Unruh Ave., and Zhuoru Chin, 58, of the 6700 block of Akron St.

The driver of the Cherokee complained of pain, but was not hospitalized initially. Police did not release his name or age.

Bregenzer reported no injuries to police, who did not disclose results of breathalyzer or blood-alcohol tests.

He was arraigned Tuesday night and his bail set at $500,000. He is scheduled for a Nov. 28 preliminary hearing.
